CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
History of the Programme:
In 2014-2015 academic year, education and training started as formal education and II. formal education. Currently, it continues only as formal education.
Aim of the Programme:
The main aim of the Child Development Programme is to train qualified child development professionals who adopt the importance of child development and education, know the developmental characteristics of children aged 0-18 years, can arrange the educational environment according to the child, have gained knowledge about the characteristics and needs of children. In addition, the programme aims to train individuals who know children with special needs, who can prepare the educational environment in a way that all children can reach, who are conscious about child health and nutrition.
Content of Education:
In the first year of education, there are mainly basic courses, while in the second year, there are mainly vocational courses and practices in pre-school education institutions. The education and training process includes developmental characteristics of children aged 0-18 years, play development in children, communication with children, learning and teaching techniques, special education, development of art and creativity in children, preparation of materials suitable for children's developmental levels, basic knowledge about child health and diseases, first aid knowledge, the ability to plan, implement and evaluate all activities (Turkish, music, drama, art, drama, art, play, movement, science, mathematics, excursion) carried out in preschool education institutions.
In-class applications are carried out within the institution and in various pre-school education centres.
Working Areas After Graduation:
Graduates who have successfully completed the Child Development Associate Degree Programme can work in pre-school education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Services, private education institutions, child clinics of hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, rehabilitation centres. With this, they can work in a wide variety of areas where children are present, considering that the child development professional knows the developmental characteristics of children, recognises children and has knowledge about how to communicate with them. For example, a child development professional who is interested in children's literature can work in a publishing house that publishes children's books. A child development professional who is interested in material development can design toys in a toy company. A child development professional who is interested in design can work in a factory producing children's furniture.
Programme Admission Requirements:
Students are admitted to the programme according to TYT score.
